CHANGES TO PINGIT TERMS AND CONDITIONS
We're making some changes to your Pingit terms and conditions that will take effect in December 2018. We've set them out below:-
- we have made changes to Part F (Pingit Account Terms) to clarify that the Pingit Account, as an electronic money product, is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme; and
- we have updated the list of third party software and copyrighted material used in the app. This is now set out in the Pingit Software Terms and Conditions available from our website, pingit.com.

If you are already using Pingit, these changes apply from December 2018. You accept these changes by continuing to use the app. If you’re not happy with these changes, you can cancel your registration or delete the app. You can read a copy of the latest terms and conditions in the app or download a copy from pingit.com.Any questions?

PINGIT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

PART A – SUMMARY OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Reference in these terms to 'us', 'we', 'our' or 'Barclays' shall be read to mean the Barclays company which you hold an account with (Barclays Bank UK PLC or Barclays Bank PLC), or solely Barclays Bank UK PLC for Pingit Account holders.
Pingit allows you to make or receive sterling payments of £1 or more using your phone. You can also use Pingit to receive and make international payments to recipients in selected countries. You can also receive payments from countries outside the UK.
Pingit is available to persons aged 16 years and above and businesses operating in the UK, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey. You must have a current account in the UK, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey (which can receive payments through the Faster Payments network) to use Pingit and you can register to make or receive payments or both. You can use Pingit to send money to someone registered for Paym. If you’re a Barclays Bank PLC or a Barclays Bank UK PLC customer and registered for Barclays Mobile Banking, you can also use your app to send Pingit payments.
To make payments, you must register for Pingit using your current account. You can register using a Barclays account if you have one or you can open a Pingit Account (Pingit Account) and link it to a personal current account you hold with another bank. If you have a joint account, each account holder can register separately for the service.
Once registered, you can make payments or send a message by giving us the recipient’s mobile number (before doing this, please check they are happy for their number to be shared in this way and ensure the number you use is current and correct as we will not be responsible if you send money to the wrong payee). When you give us an instruction to send money in Sterling to customers in the UK, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey, we will send the money using Pingit. If the Payee is not registered for Pingit and has a UK current account, we will check if they are registered for Paym (and where you are eligible for this service we will send the money). If they are not registered for Paym, we will ask them to register with Pingit to receive the payment. The money will then be sent once they register for Pingit and tell us which account to make the payment to. The recipient will need to register for Pingit within 7 days of a payment being requested. If they do not register within this time, the payment will be cancelled. You can also choose to cancel this payment in-app. We’ll tell you if this happens and notify the recipient. Alternatively, if you’re a Barclays customer with a debit card linked to your account, you can use Pingit to pay directly into the payee’s bank account - all you need is their sort code and account number.
Once registered, you can access Pingit from some third party apps on Android and from the iMessage app on iOS to make payments. This will be via Pingit Keyboard, a custom keyboard. The same authorisation processes used for accessing the Pingit app will apply when you authorise a Pingit payment via Pingit Keyboard.
All Siri payments will be made from the account linked to your Pingit registration. You must have iOS 10 or higher on your device to use this feature. You will still be required to use your fingerprint or face to authenticate the payment so you will need to ensure that this functionality is activated on your device in order to use the Siri payments feature.
For payments to certain businesses, you can also make payments using a reference or scanning a code they give you. There is a maximum daily limit of £2,000 for payments through the service using a mobile number, but different limits may apply if you’re a business or paying a business using a reference or code, or you ask us to make an international payment.
To receive payments you must: (a) have a UK mobile number and a UK bank account which can receive payments through Faster Payments; (b) set up a Pingit Account; or (c) register for Paym. You can find out how to register for Pingit from our website pingit.com/receive. If you have a Barclays account but do not have a smartphone or you just want to receive Pingit payments, you can register online to do so. For personal customers, there is a maximum daily limit of £5,000 for all payments received through the service. Details of the limits that apply to business customers, Paym or international payments are available on request or from our website, pingit.com.
When you register, we can place restrictions or limits on how you can use your Pingit Account. We’ll tell you about these restrictions, and limits and the steps you need to take to get full use of the account.
You can only send an invite to someone or request a payment from them if you have their permission, you must not send unsolicited messages, repeat or mass requests or use the App in an inappropriate way. You should not use the App to request or collect any payments that are not owed to you or which are overdue. If you use the App to send or share an image or other content, you must ensure this is appropriate and the user is happy to receive it (we will tell you when we introduce this feature). Barclays takes no responsibility for any messages or requests you send to or receive from others or their contents.
You can send money to selected countries transaction fee-free using the app. We will tell you before we introduce a charge for payments to these countries.
If you want to cancel, recall, change or trace a payment, we can charge you a fee for this service as explained in our General Terms. The App also allows you to request goods or services (‘Products’) directly from participating merchants and pay for those Products using Pingit. Barclays only provides you a platform to enable you to buy directly from merchants and is not responsible for any contract you conclude with any merchant. If you want to cancel or change your order or you have a complaint or want a refund, you must get in touch with the merchant. Buying with Pingit is different to using a debit or credit card: if you have problems with the merchant, you won’t be able to get a refund from your bank and you’ll need to contact the merchant directly.
The App only works with compatible devices running Android 4.4.2 and above, iOS 9.3. You may need to upgrade the operating system on your device to continue using the app if we change the version(s) we support. You may not be able to install or use the App on a jail-broken or rooted device. Some features may not be available on all platforms or operating systems, visit our website for more information.
Your service provider may charge you for internet access on your smartphone.
When you register to use the app, we will link the app to your Barclays current account or Pingit Account. The terms and conditions for your account will also apply to you – we call these General Terms here (but we may call them something else depending on whether you are a personal, business or wealth customer).
We can refuse to register you for Pingit and we can also ask you to complete registration at a Barclays branch.

PART B – APP TERMS
These additional conditions relate to the use of Pingit (the 'App' or 'the Service') and supplement and amend the general terms which apply to the Barclays account or Pingit Account you link to the Service ('General Terms').
1.2 Certain functionality (such as uploading or downloading content to the App) will need to access information on your device to work. We will ask you before the App accesses your device or information. You may also manage how the App accesses your device or information using privacy settings on your mobile device (for iOS) or by uninstalling the Pingit app (for Android) or via the usage settings option in the app’s menu.
1.3 Certain features available for the App involve the caching of Pingit data on your device (such as the caching of recent payee data to enable use of the Pingit keyboard on Android and iOS devices) and we will seek your permission to enable these features before we cache data on your device. Where there are other features that involve the caching of data on your device for which we are unable to ask your permission (such as the iOS Force Touch and iMessage keyboard features which cache recent payee data automatically when present on your device), you will need to use the device settings to disable Force Touch and iMessage in order to remove the caching of recent payee data.
1.4 By using the Pingit custom keyboard a cache of your recent payees on your device which will be displayed when the keyboard is launched and will be visible to you and anyone else with access to your device. If you share your device and you don’t want your recent payee data displayed in this way we recommend you don’t enable or use the Pingit Keyboard. If you use ForceTouch and/or iMessage keyboard and you don’t want your recent payee data to be cached, you are responsible for changing the settings in your device to disable these features and we recommend you do this.
2. USE OF LOCATION DATA
2.1 Certain services, including the ATM finder, will make use of location data sent from your mobile device. You can turn off this functionality at any time by turning off the location services settings for the Pingit App on your mobile device (for Android) or on the Pingit App (for other mobile devices).
2.2 Access to maps is subject to the following separate terms
(a) Google Maps/ Google Earth APIs Terms and Conditions available at https://www.google.com/accounts/TOS when access use Google Maps/ Google Earth APIs app (iOS and Android versions);
3. CONTACTING YOU
3.1 We will contact you from time to time about Pingit, including marketing messages relating to Pingit. We will do this electronically, for example by email, text, notifications or other messages on your app or mobile device or by telephone or post.
3.2 We and other companies in the Barclays Group may contact you with information about our products and services (and those of specially selected parties) that may be of interest to you, in line with your marketing contact preferences provided to us either through the App or elsewhere. All such communications will come from Barclays. We will never pass your information to a third party for them to use in their own direct marketing without your consent.
3.3 You may tell us at any time if you do not wish to receive marketing messages from us by contacting us as set out in your General Terms or by following any instructions we may include in the message we send to you. For example, a STOP message will appear at the end of any marketing text messages we send you.
4. SHARING YOUR INFORMATION
4.1 Pingit enables you to send or receive money and pay individuals, businesses or charities in the UK or abroad. We disclose your full name and Mobile Number when you use Pingit or when we process your request or display this information in messages sent to your Payers or recipients. This information is drawn from records that we already hold about your account and may be different to any names, nicknames or other pseudonyms you are known by or use when registering for Pingit. If you make a payment to a business or charity, we may disclose your name and account details to enable the charity or business to reconcile and/or apply the payment. When you use the Siri payments feature, we will share limited data with Apple so that Siri can understand when you ask to make a payment, and can access payment details for the person you have asked to pay. Please see Apple’s privacy notice for details of how Apple uses your information. You can find the notice within your Siri device settings. You can opt out of Siri access within Pingit in your device settings at any time.
4.2 Pingit enables a user to sync their app with their address book to show which contacts are registered for Pingit (for example by displaying an icon next to a contact’s name). This allows Pingit users to see if their contacts are registered for Pingit to make it easier to pay them. By using Pingit, please be aware that:
(a) If another Pingit user has your mobile number in their address book, they will be able to see that you are registered for Pingit
(b) If you sync your address book with Pingit we will access your contacts and store your phone numbers on our servers solely for this feature. We will not collect or store any names, emails, addresses or other contact information from your address book. If you do not want to use this feature or do not want your registration to be visible to others using this feature, you will have to de-register from Pingit. You can hide the visibility of the icon against the contacts on your own device within ‘settings’, however, this does not prevent your registration status from being visible to Pingit users on other devices.
4.3 If someone in another country wants to pay you, they will be able to see your name and mobile number (as set out in 4.1 above) unless you tell us you don’t want to receive international payments by opting out in the app.
5. USE OF THE APP
5.1 Pingit is a form of online banking. This means that provisions of the General Terms relating to online banking apply to the operation of Pingit. We may stop or suspend your use of Pingit
(a) if we reasonably consider it necessary to protect the security of Pingit or your account;
(b) if we suspect or you tell us there may be unauthorised or fraudulent use of Pingit or your account;
(c) if we believe there’s a significantly increased risk that you will be unable to repay money you owe us; and
(d) if we are required to do so by law.
If we find we need to do this, we’ll contact you using the details you have given us as soon as we can (and in advance where possible) to explain why, unless that would break the law or it would compromise our security measures.
Once the reason for stopping or suspending Pingit no longer applies and you have carried out any instructions we may require of you, we’ll unblock Pingit.
5.2 In addition, you must:
(a) ensure you comply with any local restrictions on using Pingit, downloading or otherwise exporting the App (including any encryption keys or similar content stored in the App)
(b) only install the App from a site or store approved by Barclays
(c) not use Pingit in any unlawful manner, for any unlawful purpose, or in any manner inconsistent with the agreement, or act fraudulently or maliciously for example by hacking into or inserting malicious code into the Pingit App, iPhone or Android operating systems or Paym
(d) not use Pingit to send inappropriate or illegal images or content, unsolicited messages, repeat or mass requests or to bully, harass or interfere with the rights of others
(e) if you are sharing an image, ensure you have the right to share it (such as consent from anyone appearing in the image)
(f) not use Pingit to request or collect any payments that are not owed to you or to request payments which are overdue
(g) not attempt to derive income from the use or provision of the service or any information (including personal information) you obtain through the Service, whether for direct commercial or monetary gain or otherwise
(h) not use Pingit in a way that could damage disable, overburden, impair or compromise the service, Paym, Barclays systems or security or interfere with other users; and
(i) not collect, collate or harvest any information or data from the service or our systems or attempt to decipher any transmissions to or from the servers running Pingit or Paym or attempt to use such information or data to create, amend or update your records or for any commercial or non-personal use such as marketing or promotional activities or sharing it with someone else
5.3 The App may utilise or include third party software and copyrighted material or may be subject to an open source license or other licence. Acknowledgements, licensing terms and disclaimers for such third party software and copyrighted material are set out in the Pingit Software Terms and Conditions available from our website, pingit.com.
5.4 If you provide feedback or ideas (‘suggestions’) on Pingit, you understand we may use your suggestions without any obligation to attribute them to you or to compensate you. You must not give us any information that is confidential, commercially sensitive or contains original creative work, or is the intellectual property or proprietary property of you or another person. Any suggestions you make will automatically become our property.
6.1 Because Pingit can be used to make payments from your account, you must keep your mobile device secure and not logged into the App. The conditions relating to payment instruments set out in the General Terms apply in relation to Pingit.
6.2 If you hold a Barclays account linked to Pingit, you can give your security details to authorised companies that require your security information to provide account information services (a service that allows you to see your accounts with different providers in one place) and payment initiation services (a service that allows a third party to instruct us to make payments from your account on your behalf). When we say ‘authorised’ we mean a company that is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority or another European regulator to provide the relevant service. In the UK, the Financial Conduct Authority’s register (available at https:// register.fca.org.uk/) will tell you whether a company is authorised. You should always consider the implications of sharing your security credentials and your personal information.
6.3 If you suspect that someone else knows your passcode or other security details you must contact us immediately by calling us on 0800 400 100 or the number available on our website. If you fail to do so, you may be liable for any unauthorised transactions on your account which are as a result of your security details becoming known to someone else.
6.4 After your initial registration we will never contact you to request your security details and we will not ask anyone else to do so on our behalf. If you receive such a request, then it is likely to be fraudulent and you must not supply your security details in any circumstances. You should report any such activity to us immediately.
6.5 You must ensure that your account number, sort code, mobile number and other details you provide are correct and up to date, and notify us as soon as these change.
6.6 Some devices allow you to use your fingerprint or face for logging into the app. If you enable this feature, then anyone whose fingerprint or face is registered on your phone or tablet may be able to log into the app and access your accounts. Therefore, you must not activate this feature if you allow other people to access your phone or tablet using their fingerprint or face. You should delete any other fingerprints or face recognition registered on the device first; otherwise, transactions made by anyone else who has their fingerprint or face registered on the device will be treated as being authorised by you and we will not be liable for those transactions.
7.1 If something goes wrong, we will be responsible to you as set out in the General Terms.
7.2 Unless we are at fault, we will however not be liable to you for any losses you suffer or costs you incur because:
(a) you are unable to access or use Pingit for any reason or there is a delay in its use;
(b) any device, hardware or software you use in connection with the App is damaged or corrupted or fails to work;
(c) Pingit does not work as you expect, does not meet your requirements or contains errors or defects or we fail to correct these;
(d) you did not receive any SMS notifications in a timely manner;
(e) you sent, received or shared an inappropriate or illegal image or content or breached the rights of another person; or
(f) there is a reduced level or failure to provide any service caused by any third party service providers including software providers and mobile operators.

9. CHANGES TO PINGIT TERMS AND CONDITIONS
9.1 We can change the terms and conditions at any time in accordance with the General Terms by sending you a text, email or other notification with details of the change or notifying you of a change when you next start the Application or visit our website. The new terms will be displayed on-screen and you may be required to read and accept them to continue your use of Pingit.
9.2 From time to time updates to the App may be issued via the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or other application store or download location from which the App is available. Depending on the update, you may not be able to use the App until you have downloaded the latest version and accepted any new terms.
10. ENDING THE SERVICE
10.1 While we'd be very sorry to lose you, you can stop using Pingit and leave us at any time.
10.2 We can stop providing you with Pingit and any services linked to Pingit in accordance with your General Terms.
10.3 We can also stop providing you with Pingit and end this agreement by giving you at least two months’ notice. We can stop providing you with any services linked to Pingit at the same time.
However, we may end this agreement and stop providing Pingit (and any services linked to Pingit) immediately or on less notice if we reasonably believe you have seriously or persistently broken any terms of the agreement or we have reasonable grounds for thinking you have done any of the following things, which you must not do:
(a) You put us in a position where we might break a law, regulation, code or other duty that applies to us if we continue to provide Pingit to you.
(b) You give us any false information at any time.
(c) You commit (or attempt) fraud against us or someone else.
(d) You use (or allow someone else to use) Pingit illegally or for criminal activity.
(e) You inappropriately let someone else use Pingit.
(f) You behave in a threatening or abusive manner to our staff.
We can also end this agreement and stop providing Pingit (and any services linked to Pingit) immediately if we reasonably believe that providing you with Pingit might expose us (or another Barclays company) to action or censure from any government, regulator or law enforcement agency.
PART C - SEND TERMS
These additional conditions relate to the use of the Pingit service and supplement and amend the general terms which apply to the Barclays account or Pingit Account you link to the service ('General Terms').
1. REGISTERING YOUR ACCOUNT
1.1 Before you can make payments you must register and match your mobile number with a qualifying Barclays account or a Pingit Account.
1.2 Any payments you receive from other Pingit users will be paid into your linked Barclays account or Pingit Account.
1.3 If you are a Barclays customer registered for Barclays Mobile Banking, you can use your Barclays Mobile Banking app to send Pingit payments.
2. MAKING PAYMENTS
Sterling payments within the UK
2.1 Once registered to make and receive payments, you can make a payment to anyone with a UK bank account ('the Payee') by providing their UK mobile number. We will send the money using Pingit and if the Payee is not registered, we will attempt to send the money using the Paym service where you are eligible for this service. If they are not registered with Paym, we will ask them to register with Pingit to receive the payment. The payment using Pingit can be made only once the Payee has registered for the service and provided us with their account details. The payee will need to register within 7 days to receive the payment (please ensure you keep enough funds in your Barclays account or Pingit Account to meet the payment). We will send them a text message asking or reminding them to register. By using the service to make a payment you are asking us to make the payment once we receive those details. If we have not received those details as requested, the payment will be cancelled. The payment will also be cancelled should you wish to cancel payment in-app. The payee will be notified of this cancelled payment. Alternatively, if you’re a Barclays customer with a debit card linked to your account, you can use Pingit to pay directly into the Payee’s bank account. All you need is their sort code and account number.
International payments made in foreign currency
2.2 You can use Pingit to send money abroad as follows.
(a) For certain countries, you can use Pingit to send money by giving us the payee’s name, account details and any extra information required for us to make the payment. Further information on what details are required are available in the App and on our website.
(b) You can use Pingit to send money to someone outside of the UK using just their mobile phone number if they are appropriately registered to receive such payments. You must check with the Payee that they are registered to receive international payments before attempting to send them a Payment using just a phone number. If they are not, we will tell you when you attempt to make the payment and may ask you for their bank details in order to send the payment.

2.3 You must get the Payee’s consent before giving us their number or other payment details.
2.4 Each payment must be for at least £1 and you can make payments of up to a maximum of £2,000 in any one day, subject to any restrictions or limits placed on your Pingit Account. Different limits may apply if you register as a business customer or when paying someone using Paym.
2.5 We can refuse to process a payment for the reasons set out in the General Terms or if we reasonably believe that you have not met any of these additional conditions.
2.6 A Payee can receive a maximum of £5,000 in any one day, subject to any restrictions or limits placed on the Payee’s Pingit Account or where the Payee is a business customer or registered to receive international payments only in which case a different limit may apply. We will refuse to process a payment if it would exceed that limit.
2.7 You can send a request for a payment or include a personal message (such as a picture) for the Payee when making a payment or post content using social media but the request, message or post must not contain personal details and must be appropriate and not offensive or breach the rights of another person. Barclays takes no responsibility for any post, message or request you make, send or receive from others or its contents or how it is used or shared. We do not have to screen your messages or posts, but if we do and find inappropriate or illegal content, we may block, reject or remove the message or post and report to relevant authorities.
2.8 By selecting a contact when using Pingit to make a payment or send a message, the App will access data in your address book.
3. GIFT AID PAYMENTS AND DONATIONS
3.1 If you ask us to make a payment to a charity, we may ask you if you want to add Gift Aid (if applicable) to your donation through accepting a Gift Aid declaration. If you accept this declaration, we will send to the charity certain personal information we hold about you, including your mobile number, name and address. We will share this information with the charity on the basis they will only use it to collect the Gift Aid payment or contact you to administer the payment. You can find out more information about any charity listed in the App (including the charity’s registration details) by visiting the charity’s website.
3.2 We'll tell you if your App doesn’t let you send charitable payments, and may process your payment in a mobile browser if you’re making a donation.
4. MISTAKEN PAYMENTS
When making a payment, you must ensure the Payee information (including the mobile number or, where you use a reference or code to generate the payment information, the payee, payment reference and amount and where applicable, the payee’s account number and any extra information required for us to make the payment) is current and correct, otherwise the payment may be returned or made to the wrong payee. We won’t be liable to you if the payment is sent to the wrong person as a result, but we’ll try to recover the payment in accordance with the General Terms.
5.1 We do not charge you for sending Sterling payments in the UK through Pingit (network charges may apply for using the App). International payments will be subject to charges (including any overseas delivery charges imposed by a recipient’s bank) and exchange rates as set out in the General Terms (please read your tariff or charges leaflet). You are able to make payments to selected countries transaction fee-free. We will tell you before we introduce a charge for payments to these countries.
5.2 If you are a business customer, you may incur standard charges for making payments as set out in your tariff. Pingit transactions are treated as a form of online banking payment. Charges associated with ‘Automated Debit’ or ‘Electronic Payment (out)’ will be applicable to business customers on certain tariffs for funds being paid out of their business current account.
5.3 If you want to cancel, recall, change or trace a payment, we can charge you a fee for this service as explained in our General Terms.
PART D - RECEIVE TERMS
You can register to receive payments using Paym or Pingit (or both). This section applies to when you register to receive payments using Pingit. For terms that apply to Paym, please refer to Part F.
1. REGISTERING YOUR ACCOUNT
1.1 Before you can receive payments using Pingit, you must register and match your mobile number with either:
(i) a UK, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey current account to which payments can be made through the Faster Payments network; (ii) your Barclays current account; or
(iii) a Pingit Account.
If you're registering with your Barclays account only to receive payments, these additional conditions supplement and amend the general terms that apply to the Barclays account or Pingit Account you link to the service ('General Terms').
1.2 The payer will indicate when you need to register for the service to receive the payment (this is 7 days). We'll send you a text message telling you that a payment is pending and when to register. We can also send you a reminder. If you don’t register as requested, we'll cancel the payment and you must contact the payer to arrange an alternative means of payment.
2 AUTHORITY TO DEBIT ACCOUNT
2.1 By registering for the service, you confirm that you are the intended recipient of the money which our customer is paying to you. If, using this service, you receive any payments by mistake, you must tell us as soon as possible and return the payment to us.
2.2 You hereby authorise the bank holding your account to debit that account and return the amount of the payment to us. If the bank can’t do this, you agree that we can disclose your details to the payer so that they can take action to recover the mistaken payment.
3. RECEIVING PAYMENTS
3.1 Once you have registered, we will send the payment to your nominated account. In doing this we are acting as payment service provider for the payer and are not providing any service directly to you, unless that account is held with us.
3.2 You can receive a maximum of £5,000 in any one day unless you are a business customer, in which case a different limit may apply to you. We will refuse to process a payment if it would exceed that limit.
3.3 You authorise us to display the full name of the account and your Mobile Number to the payer when they input your mobile number into the App or check whether any of their contacts are registered for Pingit. This information is drawn from records that we already hold about your account and may be different to any names, nicknames or other pseudonyms you are known by or use when registering for Pingit.
3.4 Your registration for the service does not create any obligations on us in relation to the receipt of payments by you (unless your account is held with us). Our obligations are to Pingit users sending you money. In particular, we may make changes to these Receive Terms and how other Pingit users can make payments to you, and can end your ability to receive payments through the service, at any time without first notifying you of those changes.
3.5 You must not generate, distribute, or offer to any Payee, any code or reference for use with the App unless you have our prior written permission to do so.
We do not charge you for receiving payments through Pingit (network charges may apply for using the App). Pingit transactions are treated as a form of online banking payment for Barclays Business customers. Charges associated with ‘Automated Credit’ or ‘Electronic Payment (in)’ for funds being paid into their business current account will apply to business customers on certain tariffs.
5. INFORMATION ABOUT YOU
5.1 Barclays is committed to protecting your personal data. We will use your information for a number of different purposes, for example, to manage your account(s), to provide our products and services to you and others and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. We may also share your information with our trusted 3rd parties for these purposes. For more detailed information on how and why we use your information, including the rights in relation to your personal data, and our legal grounds for using it, please go to Barclays.co.uk/control-your-data or you can request a copy from us.
5.2 If you are registering an account you hold with another bank, we will use any information you provide to us in connection with receiving payments only for the purposes of administering those payments and to contact you about Pingit including sending you text message about the promotions relating to the Service.
5.3 Pingit enables users of the Service to sync their app with the contacts in their address book. This allows Pingit users to see if their contacts are registered for Pingit to make it easier to pay them. By registering for Pingit you consent to your registration being visible to other Pingit users. If you do not want your registration to be visible to others using this feature, you will have to de-register from Pingit.
5.4If someone in another country wants to pay you, they will be able to see your name and mobile number (as explained in 3.3 above) unless you tell us you don’t want to receive international payments by opting out in the app.
6 PINGIT ACCEPTANCE MARK
If you are a business customer, you may download a Pingit acceptance mark (the 'trade mark') from our website pingit.com and use it to indicate that you accept Pingit payments from your customers. You acknowledge that the Pingit acceptance mark is a trade mark of Barclays and by downloading or using it you agree to comply with all guidelines and conditions we publish on using the trade mark and not to interfere with or challenge our rights to the trade mark or do anything that may bring Barclays or the trade mark any harm or disrepute. All use that you make of the trade mark will be for the benefit of Barclays and you acknowledge that we may at our sole option withdraw the trade mark from use at any time.
PART E – PINGIT.ME
These conditions apply to using Pingit.me and Pingit Giving through Pingit. They add to and amend the general terms that apply to your Barclays account and Pingit Account ('General Terms').
1 WHAT IS PINGIT.ME AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
1.1 Pingit.me lets you create a personalised Pingit.me link that you can share using social media or messaging apps to request and receive payment into your Pingit Account.
1.2 When you share your link, the webpage lets the people you send it to make a payment to your Pingit Account with a debit card. They can also make a Pingit payment using the Pingit app. Anyone who sees the page will be able to see your name and part of your postcode.
1.3 Payments into your Pingit Account using the Pingit.me service usually arrive straight away, but they can take up to 2 hours. You can switch off the webpage at any time, but once it’s switched off you won’t be able to accept payments and we won’t be able to process them. We can switch off pages if we object to the name you’ve given the page or the reason you’re using Pingit.me.
2 WHAT IS PINGIT GIVING AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
2.1 Pingit Giving lets you create a personalised Pingit Giving page that you can share using social media or messaging apps to request that someone makes a donation to your chosen registered charity.
2.2 When you share your Pingit Giving page, the webpage lets the people you send it to make a payment to a chosen registered charity listed within Pingit, with a debit card or by using the Pingit app. Anyone who sees the page will be able to see your name and the details of your chosen charity.
2.3 Payments made to a charity using the Pingit Giving service usually arrive straight away, but they can take up to 2 hours. You can switch off the Pingit Giving webpage at any time, but once it’s switched off, third parties will no longer be able to make payments to the chosen charity, nor will we process any payments. We can switch off pages if we object to the content displayed in the Pingit Giving page, if we suspect or you tell us there may be unauthorised or fraudulent use of Pingit Giving or if we are required to do so by law.
3 ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF USE FOR PINGIT.ME AND PINGIT GIVING
3.1 Once you've sent a link to your Pingit.me or Pingit Giving page to someone, they can forward it without you knowing or agreeing to it – so make sure you send it to people you trust, as we can’t take responsibility for it being sent out in this way.
3.2 Pingit.me and Pingit Giving shouldn’t be used for business and are not available for Barclays Business customers. They are only to be used for friends and family to send money to each other or to send donations to a chosen charity.
3.3 Pingit.me and Pingit Giving links are only for you. If someone asks you to use a Pingit.me or Pingit Giving page to collect money for them, don’t do it as they could be a fraudster.
3.4 Once your Pingit.me or Pingit Giving page has been deactivated it may still persist in other forms across the internet as a result of screen shots being taken, or through caching of the page on other devices.
3.5 Pingit.me links may be shared with multiple recipients at the same time via a group request, but limitations will apply to both the amount you can request from each recipient and to the size of the group.
3.6 Pingit Giving links may be shared with multiple recipients at the same time via a group request, but limitations will apply to the amount that can be donated to your page.
3.7 Please refer to 'About Pingit.me FAQs' for details of any applicable limits.
To use the Pingit.me and Pingit Giving service, you must be fully registered for the Pingit app. We reserve the right to amend this without notice and restrict access at our discretion as we might change these eligibility criteria.
5 WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG?
If something goes wrong when someone is trying to make a payment using Pingit.me or Pingit Giving – for example, you or your chosen charity don’t get the payment that’s expected – we’ll do our best to help you (as long as you’ve been honest about what’s going on and kept us informed). Please refer to your general terms or get in touch with the Pingit helpdesk for more information.
6 HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
6.1 When you enable your Pingit.me page, it will automatically show your name and part of your postcode. When you enable your Pingit Giving page, it will automatically show your name. This is to make sure the people who see your Pingit.me or Pingit Giving page can make sure they’re paying or donating to the right person.
6.2 When you send a Pingit.me payment request to multiple recipients, all the recipients will be able to see who else has paid.
6.3 When you send a Pingit Giving request to multiple recipients, all the recipients will be able to see who else has donated (unless the donation has been made anonymously), any Gift Aid applied and any donation message.
PART F - PINGIT ACCOUNT TERMS
The conditions of the Retail Customer Agreement with us (Barclays Bank UK PLC) apply to the use of the Pingit Account. These can be found at Barclays.co.uk/rca. You should download and print or save a copy of the Retail Customer Agreement for future reference.
The following additional conditions also relate to the Pingit Account and supplement and amend the general conditions.
1 OPERATING THE PINGIT ACCOUNT
1.1 The Pingit Account is an electronic money account which can be used to make or receive payments through the Pingit Smartphone Application (‘the App’). You can only operate your Pingit Account through the App.
The Pingit Account, as an electronic money product, is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. In respect of money held in your Pingit Account, as a regulated credit institution Barclays Bank UK PLC is required to comply with capital and prudential requirements imposed by law. These requirements are designed to ensure the safety of funds held with us and this is monitored by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.
1.2 You can top up or fund your Pingit Account up to any amount:
(a) by direct transfer (for example using Online or Telephone banking) from any of your other UK, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey bank accounts;
(b) by standing order; or
(c) using a debit card or any other means we advise you from time to time.
1.3 Subject to any limits placed on your Pingit Account, you can only receive payments up to a maximum of £5,000 per day into your Pingit Account from other Pingit users. If a payment is sent to you that will cause you to exceed this limit, we will return it to the Sender.
2 REDEEMING FUNDS AND MAKING PAYMENTS
2.1 You can redeem the funds in the Pingit Account at any time by using the App to transfer funds to the UK, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey bank account you used when opening your account. No fee will be charged for redeeming the funds. If you ask to redeem more than £2,500 at any one time, your request may be subject to additional security checks which will be carried out before the instruction can be processed.
2.2 You can also use the Pingit Account to make payments using the Pingit service, as provided for in the terms for that service.
2.3 You cannot make payments in any other way.
3 PLACING LIMITS ON YOUR PINGIT ACCOUNT
3.1 Depending on the information you provide when registering for the Service, we may require you to complete registration at a Barclays branch or to provide us with further information before you can use the Pingit Account. Sometimes we may also place limits on the amounts you can send, receive or withdraw using the Pingit Account and the services available. We will tell you these limits when you register and the steps you need to take for us to remove them.
4 TRANSACTION INFORMATION
You will be able to access through the App information about recent payments into and out of the Account including details of any applicable exchange rates or charges. If you ask us to, we will also provide details about transactions in writing.
No interest is payable on the Pingit Account.
6 CLOSING THE PINGIT ACCOUNT
The Pingit Account can be closed at any time in accordance with the general conditions. If you have not redeemed the funds in your Pingit Account within 6 years of the Pingit Account being closed, we will have no further obligation to repay the funds.
PART G – PAYM TERMS AND CONDITIONS
These additional conditions apply when you send someone money using Paym or register to receive Paym payments. They supplement and amend the general terms which apply to your Barclays account or Pingit Account ('General Terms').
Paym is a new service operated by the UK Payments Council that allows you to send or receive money through your bank or building society app using a mobile number. You can register with Barclays to receive Paym payments. If you have the Pingit app, you can also send payments to other customers registered for Paym.
2. REGISTERING FOR PAYM
Before you can receive payments using Paym you must register and match your mobile number with your Barclays account or if you have one, your Pingit Account. You can only register one account against the mobile number you register for Paym – if you are already registered for Paym with another bank or building society, you will need to deregister your existing account first before re-registering with Barclays or your new provider.
3 YOUR INFORMATION
3.1 When you register for Paym, your mobile number, account name and details (‘your information’) will be shared with the following (who are also bound to keep your information secure and confidential) so that it can be stored in a secure database which will be accessed by others who want to send you money:
(a) the Mobile Payments Services Company Limited ('the Operator') – this is the company appointed by the UK Payments Council to operate the Paym service
(b) the service providers and agents (including their subcontractors) of the Operator
(c) other financial institutions who are members of Paym (for example banks or building societies); and
(d) employees and contractors of any of the above persons.
3.2 Once you register, other Paym users (for example customers of other financial institutions who are members of Paym) will be able to look up the Paym database to confirm your details before sending you money. They will see your account name – this will be drawn from records that we already hold about your account and may be different to any names, nicknames or other pseudonyms you are known by or use.
4 SENDING MONEY USING PAYM
4.1 You can send money to anyone registered for Paym using the Pingit app (or any of our other apps or services we tell you from time to time). We will tell you any limits or conditions that apply at the time you make the payment.
4.2 When you instruct us to send money using a mobile, we will try to send the money using Pingit first. If the Payee is not registered for Pingit, we will then try to send the money using Paym. If they are not registered for Paym, we will contact them to let them know that to receive the money you are trying to send they will need to register for Pingit as set out in the Pingit Terms and Conditions. You confirm you have the Payee’s consent before giving us their number.
5. RECEIVING PAYMENTS
Once you have registered, any money sent to you using Paym will be paid into your nominated account. We will tell you any limits or conditions that apply when you register for Paym.
6 MISTAKEN PAYMENTS
By registering for Paym, you confirm that you are the intended recipient of the money sent to you using Paym. If you receive any payments by mistake, you must tell us as soon as possible and return the payment to us.
7 KEEPING YOUR DETAILS UP TO DATE
It is essential that you ensure any information we hold about you is correct and up to date. You must tell us as soon as possible if you change your mobile number or any of your details so that payments can be sent to the correct account.
We do not charge you for using Paym (network charges may apply for using our apps or other services). Paym transactions are treated as a form of online banking payment for Barclays Business customers. Charges associated with ‘Automated Credit’ or ‘Electronic Payment (in)’ will be applicable to business customers on certain tariffs for funds being paid into their business current account
9 ENDING THE SERVICE
We can stop you using or accessing Paym as set out in the General Terms. If you are registered for Paym with your linked Barclays or Pingit Account we can:-
(a) stop you using Paym for any of the reasons that we may suspend Pingit under clause 5 of Part B;
(b) remove the use of Paym for any of the reasons that we may stop providing you with Pingit under clause 10 of Part B; and
(c) stop you using or remove the use of Paym if your account is closed or switched.
PART H – BUYING WITH PINGIT
SUMMARY AND KEY POINTS
Pingit allows you to request goods or services (‘Products’) directly from participating merchants and pay for those Products using Pingit (‘Buyit’). You can also use Pingit to pay for an order when accessing participating merchants’ websites or apps (‘Mobile Checkout’). The Pingit terms and conditions as supplemented by these terms apply to your use of Pingit to make an order and/or pay for Products. The key points to note from these additional conditions are:
- Platform provider only: Barclays is not the provider of any Products and only provides a platform that allows you to initiate transactions with merchants and/or pay them for Products
- Barclays not the seller: You will be buying directly from the relevant merchant and not from Barclays
- Payment process: Barclays will pay the merchants from your account or Pingit Account on your instruction when either you confirm your order for Products from a merchant or you opt to pay using Pingit from within a merchant's own app or website
- Sale contract with merchant: Your contract for a Product will be with a merchant. Pressing the 'Confirm Order' button or confirming a payment by pressing the ‘OK’ button does not mean a contract has been formed – your contract will be formed in accordance with the relevant merchant's terms and conditions
- Refunds and Complaints: Any refunds or complaints will be dealt with by the relevant merchant in line with its terms and conditions

BUYING WITH PINGIT TERMS AND CONDITIONS
These additional conditions relate to the use of the Pingit service to order Products from and/or pay merchants outside the Barclays Group. They supplement and amend the general terms which apply to the Barclays account or Pingit Account ('General Terms').
1 THE PLATFORM: BARCLAYS ROLE
1.1 You can use functionality in Pingit (such as Buyit or Mobile Checkout) to order Products from and/or pay merchants outside of the Barclays Group.
1.2 When using the Buyit functionality in Pingit, Barclays acts as a platform provider only, sending your order for a Product to the relevant merchant and acting on your instruction to send a payment to that merchant.
1.3 As you are instructing Barclays to make a payment directly from your account or Pingit Account you do not get any user protection under any credit or debit card scheme rules (such as the MasterCard and Visa schemes).
1.4 The advertisement of a product by a merchant, the presentation of QR, or other relevant, codes (‘Codes’) and the scanning of those Codes are not offers to sell any particular Product or a promise that the relevant Product is available for you to buy from a merchant.
1.5 Making an order and/or payment through Pingit does not create a contract between you and Barclays for the supply of any product. Buyit enables you to make an offer to buy a Product and it is up to the merchant to accept your offer. Mobile Checkout is solely a payment service that you can use to instruct Barclays to pay a merchant from within the merchant's own app or website.
1.6 When you use Buyit, each merchant will set out the terms of their contract with you but in no event will a contract be formed until the merchant has confirmed to you by email that it has received and is processing your order.
1.7 Pingit only allows for transactions for Products to be delivered within mainland UK.
2.1 Once you confirm an order and/or payment for a Product, we will send the payment for you to the merchant for the full price of the Product including delivery charges and taxes.
2.2 You cannot cancel or change the payment as it is processed straight away. If you cancel an order or are entitled to a refund or have a complaint, you must contact the merchant directly.
2.3 Barclays will not deduct a fee from your payment.
3 PRODUCTS AND MERCHANTS
3.1 The merchant (and not Barclays) is responsible for:
(a) creation of Codes and the information returned by the Pingit App when you scan a Code, make an order or when Barclays Pingit interfaces with a merchant’s app or website
(b) availability of, fulfilling any order placed by you for, supply of, delivery of, returns of and refunds in relation to any Product, including whether a delivered Product conforms to the description provided within the Pingit App
(c) the quality, safety or legality of the Products advertised, the accuracy of the description of the Products or the ability of merchants to sell and deliver the Products
3.2 You undertake to Barclays to comply with any terms and conditions you agree with a merchant.
4 BARCLAYS LIABILITY
4.1 Barclays is not responsible, and has no liability, to you for each of the matters in Condition 3 above and/or in respect of:
(a) any Product complying with its specification or its fitness for any purpose, or whether it is free from defects or is of merchantable quality
(b) any dealings or contract between you and any merchant
(c) the solvency of any merchant or that any merchant will or is able to comply with its terms and conditions presented to you within the App
(d) any loss we could not predict at the time you gave us an instruction; or
(e) any loss of business, loss of goodwill, loss of opportunity or loss of profit
5 PERSONAL DATA AND INFORMATION
5.1 When you confirm an order request using Barclays Buyit functionality, Barclays provides the following to the relevant merchant:
(a) your name and address, and (if different) the name and address of the person to whom you wish the Product delivered
(b) your age (in case it is necessary for the merchant to comply with age restrictions on the supply of Products)
(c) your email address and Mobile Number; and
(d) the relevant transaction details
(collectively the 'Information').
5.3 You confirm to Barclays that you have all necessary permissions to provide the Information to Barclays, and that the Information is accurate and up-to-date. If you give us Information about other people (if you are ordering a Product for someone else), then you confirm that they have authorised you to give us their Information and for us to provide it to the relevant merchant.
5.4 When you confirm payment with Pingit Mobile Checkout, Barclays will not provide any Information to the relevant merchant.
5.5 If there is a dispute about a transaction initiated using the App, Barclays may release any information it holds about that transaction to the relevant merchant and/or any person adjudicating the dispute, such as a court, mediator or arbitrator.
6.1 Clause 5.2(g) of Part B of the Pingit Terms does not apply to your use, or any resale, of any Product you might acquire from a transaction initiated using the app.
6.2 These additional conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
PART I – PAY BY BANK APP TERMS AND CONDITIONS
These additional conditions relate to the use of Pay by Bank app through Pingit. They supplement and amend the general terms which apply to your Barclays account or Pingit Account ('General Terms').
WHAT IS PAY BY BANK APP AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Pay by Bank app is a scheme that lets you buy goods and services online using Faster Payments whenever you see the Pay by Bank app symbol. You need to have Pingit to use Pay by Bank app.
When you are making a purchase on a computer or tablet, the merchant will provide you with a 6 character code. This code is generated by Pay by Bank app and represents your purchase. When you type this code in to Pingit, you will see the purchase details to confirm.
When you are making a purchase on your mobile device, Pingit will automatically launch for you to view and confirm the payment.
Pay by Bank app payments may come out of your account immediately or in instalments if the merchant is not ready to bill you in full when you authorise the payment. The merchant will share details of the transaction with Barclays, but none of your financial or personal information will be sent to the merchant when you make a payment.
In all circumstances, when you have authorised your purchase via Pingit you will be directed back to the merchant’s website or app which will confirm the status of your transaction. The contract that is formed for the supply of goods and services will be between you and the merchant and their terms and conditions will apply. You can deactivate Pay by Bank app in your Pingit settings.
There are no additional charges that will apply for using Pay by Bank app, however your internet or network service provider may charge you for using data on your device. Purchases made using Pay by Bank app are not eligible for Barclays reward schemes.
If you want to return something you bought using Pay by Bank app, you should contact the merchant directly to arrange a return and/or refund. The relevant purchase information can be found in Pingit. Refunds are paid directly into your Pingit Account and will be subject to the merchant's terms and conditions. If there are any problems with your refund, please contact the merchant. If they cannot help, you should contact the Pingit helpdesk.
WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG?
If something goes wrong when you are authorising the payment (e.g. you have mistakenly entered the wrong code) we'll try to help you as long as you’ve acted honestly and kept us informed. Please refer to your General Terms and contact the Pingit helpdesk for further guidance.

PART J - PINGIT INVOICING
These conditions apply when you use Pingit Invoicing to create, manage, send and pay invoices via Pingit. They add to and amend the general terms that apply to your Barclays account and Pingit Account ('General Terms').
1. WHAT IS PINGIT INVOICING AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
1.1 Pingit Invoicing lets Barclays Business customers create, manage and send invoices using Pingit Invoicing via the Pingit app. Once created, the recipient of the invoice can choose to use Pingit to make the related payment.
1.2 When an invoice is created, this will appear in the form of a webpage and will be sent to the recipient via secure link. The webpage will include information including the invoice narrative and payment instructions. When creating and sending an invoice, it is your responsibility to ensure that the correct details are used for the intended recipient. Failure to do so may result in both your data and your customers' data being shared with an unknown third party.
1.3 Invoices paid via Pingit are in respect of goods and services provided by you. Pingit Invoicing does not provide any additional product or service to you or the recipient of the invoice. The contract that is formed for the supply of goods and services will be between you and the recipient, and it is your responsibility to ensure that you have separate terms and conditions in place.
1.4 Pingit Invoicing also lets you add a logo or an image to a created invoice. You must ensure that you have the right to use and share any such logo or image on an invoice, in accordance with the Pingit terms and conditions.
1.5 Once the Pingit.me link for the invoice has been accessed it will be stored on the device or machine it has been viewed on. If this is a shared device, then you should take the necessary steps to remove the link from the device/machine history.
2.1 To create an invoice using Pingit, you must be registered for the Pingit app and have a valid Barclays Business current account. We reserve the right to amend this without notice and restrict access at our discretion as we might change the eligibility criteria
3. WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG?
3.1 If something goes wrong when someone is trying to make a payment to you using Pingit Invoicing (for example, you don't get a payment you're expecting) we'll do our best to help you as long as you've been honest about what's going on and kept us informed. Please refer to your general terms or get in touch with the Pingit helpdesk for more information.
4. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
4.1 Pingit will only use the client data you enter into the invoice for the purposes of creating the invoice and any other legal or regulatory requirements we may have in this regard as a Data Processor. It is your responsibility to ensure all information, images, logos or files used to create the invoice are accurate and you confirm that you have the necessary rights and permissions to process the data and content you enter into Pingit Invoicing.
4.2 You can access created invoices via the Manage Invoice option. Here you can view the PDF in Pingit and store the invoice separately if you wish. Functionality may vary according to the device you are using so please check your operating system.
