FAQs

No. Any Pingit user can use Pingit Giving to fundraise if they're fully registered. You don't need to be a Barclays customer to use Pingit, but you do need to be

  • Over 16
  • A UK, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey resident and have a current account based there
  • A UK mobile number

You can download the Pingit app from the App Store or Google Play.

  • Log in to your Pingit app
  • Scroll down the main menu and tap "Donations and Fundraising"
  • Tap "Create a fundraising page"
  • Choose the charity you want to raise money for
  • Enter your fundraising target
  • Give your page a name
  • Provide a summary to tell donors what you're doing
  • Choose whether to get notifications about donations
  • Select "Create my page"

In your Pingit app, tap the "Giving" ribbon icon on the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, which takes you to the fundraising and donations page. Tap the "Fundraising" button and type the charity name into the search box on the "Choose a charity" screen.

If your chosen charity isn't listed, you'll get a message sending you to our partner, Charities Trust, who update our list. Simply fill in the form and submit your request. If your charity meets the Charities Trust criteria, you'll see them listed in the Pingit app within about five working days – then you'll be able to create a fundraising page and start collecting donations to the charity.

Share the link to your page by text, email or WhatsApp – anyone can follow the link to donate

  • If they're registered for Pingit, they can donate directly from Pingit
  • If they're not registered for Pingit, they can donate with a debit card

There's a ‘Delete my page' button on the fundraising page. We'll automatically delete fundraising pages that haven't been used for 12 months. Once we've deleted it, your page won't be accessible.

No – we don't charge them anything. 100% of each donation, and any Gift Aid on it, goes directly to your chosen charity.

We can only accept two donations per day from each debit card, and a maximum of four donations from one card over a seven-day period.

You can donate up to £200 a day from a single debit card, up to a maximum of £400 over a seven-day period.

Yes, if the donor is a UK taxpayer and chooses to complete the declaration and add Gift Aid. Our partner, Charities Trust, processes donations and claims Gift Aid on behalf of the charity you're supporting.

The personal data we use to process your donation will come from you directly (for example, the personal data you submit to Pingit Giving).

This will include

  • Personal details (like your name, address and postcode)
  • Contact details (like your email address, postal address and mobile number)

  • Barclays Bank UK PLC is the 'data controller' for the personal data you share with Pingit. This means it is responsible for deciding how we can use your personal data.

We'll use your personal data to process your donation through Pingit Giving, and any payment you've sent using Pingit.me. You can choose whether we'll contact you with Pingit offers. If you're donating by debit card, you can also give us your email address to get a receipt by email. You can ask us to stop sending these offers and confirmation receipts at any time – just click the "Unsubscribe" link on the e-mail.

If you choose to add Gift Aid on any donation through Pingit Giving, we'll share your personal data with Charities Trust, and that'll include your name, address and postcode. We'll share this information with Charities Trust – they've agreed that they'll only use it to collect the Gift Aid payment and will keep within data protection laws. We don't keep personal data that donors submit for Gift Aid processing. Charities Trust is the data controller for this data.

Our legal reasons for processing your personal data will be for performance of a contract, in order to meet our legitimate interests or in order to meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

When we process personal data, we protect your privacy and put your fundamental rights and freedoms before our interests.

  • If you think that someone has used your Pingit account or debit card fraudulently to make a donation, you'll need to contact the bank you got the card from for a refund. If you're a Pingit or Barclays customer, call us immediately on 0800 400 100*
  • If you donated by mistake, contact Charities Trust on 0151 286 5129 (call charges may apply) within five days of making the donation. Charities Trust may be able to refund the money if it hasn't already been transferred to the charity, and may charge an administration fee for processing it. If you realise you've made a mistake more than five days after making the donation, write to the charity to request a refund

*Calls to 0800 numbers are free from UK landlines and personal mobiles, otherwise call charges may apply. Please check with your service provider. Calls may be monitored or recorded to maintain high levels of security and quality of service.

No. If someone sends you their Pingit Giving link, you can donate to their fundraising page with a UK debit card.
